Do you make the most scrumptious snacks? Delectable desserts? Mouthwatering meals? Then join in for your chance to win some local gift cards and bragging rights for the best in town! Not really into cooking or just want to try some of the top-notch noshes being presented then come down and be a judge!

 

Introducing the Quarterly Community Competitions! Four times a year the Washington Business Improvement District will host a cooking competition at a rotating location around town. Register today to be a competitor and see if you have what it takes to be the best in town. Or just come down for a public tasting pass which gives you access to sampling all of the competitors dishes that day and being a judge for best dish in show!

 

February: Chilly Days Chili Cook-Off- Make your best chili to warm folks up during the cold winter!

May: Bread Fest Bake-Off- As spring rises lets raise some dough and bake some bread!

August: Chips & Dips Cook-Off- Summer isn’t just for dips in the pool but salsa, guacamole and dips that fuel us!

November: Cookie Commotion Bake-Off- Lets fall into autumn with some comforting cookies!

 

Become a Competitor: Send an email with your full name to Admin@WashingtonBID.org indicating that you would like to participate in the competition. Pay your $10 registration fee by check or cash by dropping off or mailing to the Washington BID (21 Belvidere Ave, Washington NJ 07882) or by the PayPal button below. Please register by the Friday before the event so we know how many competitors will be present in order to plan the spaces accordingly. There is a limit of ten (10) competitors per event, so register early to ensure yourself a spot!

Public Tasting Pass & Become a Judge: Winners of each contest will be decided by a public vote. For $5 you can register to become a public judge which gives you access to sampling each and every dish available at the competition that day. Tastings and judging will be from 1pm-3pm at each event, or until we run out of food. Tasting passes can simply be purchased the day of the event.

Bread Fest Bake Off

We are sorry to announce that Bread Fest has been cancelled due to lack of competitors. Unfortunately, due to low interest in this event we decided it was best to cancel at this time. We hope to see you at the next competition!

Set up Times: 12:15pm to 1pm

Tasting/ Judging times: 1pm-3pm

Rules & Important Information: 

-All dishes must be homemade by the competitor. 
-Dishes should be made at home and be ready to serve at the competition, no cooking needed on site. 
-Winners will be decided by a public vote on the day of the competition. 
-Please prepare enough of each dish for at least 30 samples for judging.
-If you need garnishes, condiments, chips, etc. for your dish please bring them with your entry. 
-Be sure to bring appropriate serving implements (small cups, spoons, napkins, etc.) to give out your samples during the event. 
-Set up for competitors is from 12:15pm-1pm, please have your dish ready to be sampled by 1pm. 
-Tasting passes will be available the day of the event, cash or check only please. 
-Public tastings will be run from 1pm-3pm. 
-Votes will be tallied at about 3pm to announce the winner of the competition.
-There is a limit of 10 competitors per competition event.
-There is no specific limit on tasting passes, they can be purchased as long as there is still food to be sampled and room in our host location.

-Feel free to decorate your serving space and have fun with it! 
-Don’t forget to check out some of the other amazing shops while you are in town! 
-All money generated from registration fees and tasting passes go toward the prizes and supplies for the competitions. Any left-over funds will be used for other established BID borough festivals and events.
