Drones and how they are being used in business.

Thursday, September 13, 2018

The Washington Business Improvement District's Sept. 13 Lunch 'N Learn is all about drones and how they are now being used in business, and how they can possibly help your business.

More and more businesses are utilizing drones for a variety of functions, from delivery service, to roofing projects, to wedding and other social events. Drones, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), is a fast improving technology that is clearly having a major impact in today’s world.  Drones are also used to locate victims of natural disasters, to track down fleeing criminals, as surveillance - and bombing - in war zones, on movie sets, by photographers, farmers, and resort and real estate marketing.

However, with more and more people using drones for professional purposes, it has now become a must for "pilots" to be certified when using drones for commercial use.

To meet this need, Warren County Community College has become the first community college in the region to offer a training program for those wishing to be certified as drone pilots. College President Dr. Will Austin, a certified drone pilot himself, will give an overview of drones and their capabilities, and do a live demonstration at the luncheon.

This Lunch 'N Learn will be held on the Warren County Community Washington campus on Route 57 in Room 123A starting at 11:45 a.m. Lunch is included and time for networking as well.
