Monika Hamburger, who owns Washington Borough-based ComForcare Home Care with her husband Steven, has been elected the new president of the Washington Business Improvement District's Board of Directors. "I am looking forward to this coming year," said Hamburger, whose home care agency office is located downtown at 71 East Washington Avenue. "Ed Rossi has done a terrific job over the past few years, overseeing two major downtown projects, and really moving the WBID forward on a number of other levels. Our priorities this year are to continue to host quality events that draw visitors to our business community, such as our car show and Festival in the Borough, and to fill vacant storefronts. I believe that as the economy improves - and it will - folks will see Washington Borough as a very strategic place to do business. With our close proximity to several major roads, including Routes 46, 78, 22, 57, 31, and not that far away from Route 80, we are truly the crossroads of Warren County." "I am looking forward to working on the continuation of the revitalization of the downtown and to help create new opportunities for the business community in Washington Borough," added Hamburger. "As a business and property owner in Washington, my husband and I believe in the coming growth and prosperity of the Borough." Her business, ComForcare Home Care, is a national senior care service provider. The Washington franchise was opened in 2003 and serves residents of Warren and Hunterdon counties. Hamburger is very active in the community and is involved with a host of organizations, including the Warren County Regional Chamber of Commerce, of which she is a Vice Chairman of that Board of Directors, and in honor of her "furry children" Hamburger also serves on the Board of Directors for Common Sense for Animals. Additionally, she initiated the Warren chamber's hugely popular "Senior Expo," which is held each fall, and has been a part of many other community events throughout the years, in her hometown of Blairstown and elsewhere. Property owner Ed Rossi, the board's former President, was chosen as the Executive Board's First Vice President. Developer and property owner Mark Mulligan was selected Second Vice President. Accountant Edward Fliegauf was picked as the Treasurer while Marian Bredin, who owns Good Impressions printing company, was chosen as Secretary. |
